In 1992 werd het Don KosakenChor Russland opgericht en wel in de spirituele bakermat, de Russische federatie. President Jeltsin had inmiddels toestemming verleend om de Kozakken als keurkorps opnieuw op te richten. Voor het eerst is het Don KosakenChor Russland terecht gekomen waar het thuis hoort; eindelijk, aan de oevers van de Don! Met de riten en het gezang van de Orthodoxe kerk en met Russische Volksliederen symboliseren ze voor miljoenen mensen het “oude Rusland”. In 1994 werd de Nederlander Marcel ‘Nicolajevich’ Verhoeff benoemd tot chef-dirigent.

Op grond van de nauwe verbondenheid van alle Kozakken met de Russisch-orthodoxe kerk heeft het Don KosakenChor Russland in oktober 2007, onder leiding van haar chef-dirigent Marcel Nicolajevich Verhoeff, in nauwe samenwerking met de Universiteit van de Russisch-orthodoxe Kerk en de Regent van het Danilov Klooster te Moskou, een authentieke kerstnacht vespers opgenomen in de kathedraal De Gezegende Maagd in Izmailovo te Moskou, waaraan ook o.a. de priester Andrej Blisznuk, diaken Alexei Zaitsev en diaken Vladislav Sokolov medewerking hebben verleend.
